Users watch one billion hours’ worth of videos on YouTube every day, and animal videos make up an embarrassing portion of that figure. But then again, who doesn’t enjoy watching cats get frightened by cucumbers, or dogs who are bad at being dogs?

Festo looked to nature for inspiration when designing the robotic kangaroo known as BionicKangaroo. They let evolution do the heavy lifting on the design front.

SpotMini is another robot from Boston Dynamics. This robot is great at doing the dishes and slipping on banana peels.

Spy Sloth

Thanks to robotics technology we can get an up-close view of the sloth. Now if there were only a way to recreate the 900 moths and beetles and 84 different fungi that thrive in a sloth’s fur.

WildCat

The WildCat robot can run at speeds of 19 miles per hour on flat terrain. It can bound and it can gallop. It also sounds like a weed eater on full throttle.

Amphibious Snake Robot

This incredible robot uses waterproof bellows to protect its universal joints as it maneuvers underwater. It’s also capable of slithering about on dry land!

Octobot

These robots were inspired by the tendrils of an octopus. Flexible electronics and soft robotics mimic the unique structure of the octopus.

Dragon Robot

Mythical creatures count as animals, right? This is super cool video of a robotic dragon captures the world’s largest walking robot.

King Kong

While not strictly a robot, this massive King Kong puppet does rely heavily on automation to come to life.
