A Really Tall Robot

How tall do you think the world’s tallest autonomous robot is? You might not have guessed that it’s 40 feet tall. It is.  It’s a global visibility platform. It travels through the warehouses it works in, scans everything, and creates a digital twin of the warehouse. It has to be as tall as the highest racks in a warehouse so it can get all the information in one pass.

It works completely autonomously and can work at any time and in any conditions, including times when human workers are present. The humans are safe. The robot has 29 cameras plus 6 LIDAR sensors. There are also sensors for temperature, noise, vibration, and more. The goal is to replicate the warehouse completely so that human operators can look into any part of the warehouse and see everything that is going on everywhere in the warehouse.

It doesn’t require any changes in a warehouse. Thanks to clever design and safety features, it can do its job without disrupting the normal function of a warehouse. In fact, it can scan 100,000 pallets a day, promising increased efficiency and reduced waste and errors.

A helper

When we think about warehouse robots, we often think of robots that carry products from one station to another, or robots that pack or unpack pallets. That’s not what this tall robot does. It gathers information. That means that it is helping the people who strategize and plan the physical work rather than the people who move the goods around.

Maybe that’s why the robot doesn’t have a name. Dexory, the makers, produce both the hardware and the software for their creation. The software is called DexoryView. The robots have no names.

No problem — you don’t need to pick one out and pop it in your shopping cart. The system runs on a monthly subscription model. According to the Dexory website, they can have your DexoryView system up and working hard for you in two weeks.
