Who ordered the Indramat error code? Anyone? It’s a piping hot Indramat F228 error with extra cheese. Nobody ordered that error code. In fact, nobody wants it and whoever delivered it will get an icy and disapproving glare until they take it away.
Seeing an Indramat error code pop up is like having an unordered pizza delivered to your doorstep; only it’s topped with anchovies…and tree bark—nobody wants to see that. Unfortunately, it’s here and it must be dealt with.
What causes an Indramat F228 error?
Indramat F228 is an excessive deviation error. This usually means that there is a mechanical problem, especially if your system has been running for a while (years). That’s not the only possible cause, though. The culprit for this error code can be anything from incorrect drive parameters to axis jamming to dry bearings.
Possible causes
- Drive acceleration capacity exceeded
- Blocked axis
- Incorrect parameter values
How to clear an F228 error
If you have an F228 code delivered to your doorstep, the first thing you should do is figure out what recent changes have been made. Maybe there’s been a change in the material that you’re running that’s responsible for the error.
Remedial actions
- Check S-0-0092 Bipolar torque /force limit value parameters; set it to maximum permissible value. Reduce specified acceleration value from the controller.
- Check for jamming of the axis.
- Set the parameter values for the drive and S-0-0159 monitoring window
If there haven’t been changes, check the mechanics; see if something needs to be lubricated. Nearly all of the problems that cause an F228 error are related to the mechanics of the system. This isn’t always the case, however.
It’s more more difficult to diagnose the problem if it isn’t mechanical. Spotting a jam is easy, but non-mechanical problems aren’t as obvious.
