The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports that 5,147 workers died on the job in 2017. That’s more than 14 deaths every day — and this figure doesn’t include all of the workplace accidents that resulted in serious injury and permanent disability. Even just a little education, awareness, and mindfulness can help make factory floors safer. Here are a few simple things workers can do on a daily basis to help promote factory safety.
Clean up
Keeping a clean and tidy work space may seem like a matter of preference, but trips, slips, and falls are among the most common reasons for accidents in the workplace. To keep a safe work space, keep a tidy work space
Clean spills, clear debris, and keep items out of high traffic areas.

Always look for hazards overhead before walking or working in an area. Being struck by an object is number two on the “Fatal Four” list. Look above for hazards that could fall and cause head injuries, electrocution, etc. Never work under suspended loads.
Look down
Don’t forget to look for hazards at ground level while you’re looking for hazards above. Again, trips, slips, and falls are among the most common reasons for injuries and deaths on the job. spills, debris, etc.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times including spills, debris, machinery, other workers, vehicles, and other hazards.
