Indramat fault codes are an especially stressful problem. Unless you have all of the error diagnostic messages memorized — which most people don’t — you’re left to imagine just how severe your problem really is. Is my battery voltage low? Is the motor overheating? Do I need to buy a new drive?
Uncertainty and panic
The Stoic philosopher Seneca said, “We suffer more in imagination than in reality.” Sometimes an obvious problem is better than not quite knowing what the problem is.
Imagine you get a flat tire on your vehicle. A flat tire can ruin your mood, but you know exactly what the problem is and what you need to do to fix it. You pull over, put the spare on, and drive to the nearest shop to purchase a new tire.
A check engine light, on the other hand, could be as mild as an oil change or severe as a cracked radiator, so you’re left playing out the worst case scenario in your head as you head to the shop in a panic.
Panic can amplify the worry. It can also make the problem worse.
Don’t panic — keep calm and resolve your Indramat error codes
Error codes are to your servo motor as the check engine light is to your vehicle. It notifies you that there’s a problem, and you should figure out what that problem is and take care of it immediately.
However, error codes do provide an advantage over that ambiguous check engine light. If you have your Indramat manual handy, you can find out exactly what that error code means and figure out the next step you need to take to fix the problem.
We’re used to helping panicky Indramat operators with their fault codes, so we’d like to share a bit of advice on how to resolve an Indramat error code message.
- Stay calm. Take a few deep breaths, and do not panic. Keep your wits about you, and proceed to step two.
- Diagnose the fault code. Consult your manual, or search the error code online. We’ve written a few posts about specific Indramat error messages.
- Give us a call. If you’re unable to fix the problem yourself, or can’t figure out what the problem is, call us for immediate support at 479-422-0390.
More often than not you can skip straight to Step 3. Making decisions in a panic is a good way to cause additional damage to your machinery, which increases downtime and the cost of repairs. Call us at the first sign of trouble for expert Indramat support.
